Transforming Perspectives | When asked to believe, often our inner thought is, how is my belief measured?
The Bible is explicit about the concept of faith which is neither a religion nor a denomination, but an act of believing God. Apostle Paul’s letter to the Hebrews Chapter 11, defines faith as the substance of things hope for evidence of things not seen, meaning the manifestation of a word spoken, such as Noah building an ark, believing in rain as God had spoken, before it had ever rained upon the earth. Paul expresses, “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” Hebrews 11:3, New International version
Faith is indeed measured by the substance or proof of the hope planted in our hearts and minds upon hearing a spoken promise or word of God. Notable is the Lord’s exhortation expressed in the parable of the fig tree, requiring trust in his authority to change the impossible to possible in every opportunity, regardless of time, season or limitations.
Faith is, when belief meets or is active at the predestined time ordered by God, whereby hope becomes alive having assurance in God with whom the impossible becomes a reality of possibilities. Because with God all things are possible when we believe, placing our trust in God.
Apostle Paul exhorts of prevailing faith, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2 , New International Version, NIV
